Canticles, hymns, anthems and metrical psalms including works by John Cheatum and John Dowland. Also included is a brief summary of musical rudiments, based on the Old English or Lancashire sol-fa and showing the Gamut, and the Proportion of Notes. Ff. 56v-58v contain theoretical information. On f. 56v is 'The Notes & Rests', 'Moods in Common & Triple Time', and 'The Eight Notes'. On f. 57r is a partitioned triangle explaining note values in common and triple time.
